Tax Act Standard–Doing My Own Taxes

Well, I finally did it. My own taxes.

Usually, I’d go to a preparer and spend $175, but this time I used Tax Act software–for a total of $34.

Well, what did I think? I was very nervous, but it went OK. I was really obsessed with doing it right, which was probably healthy.

And yes, I’ll probably do it again.

Does anyone else do his or her own taxes? What were your experiences?

Stimulus Check

I checked with the bank today–we didn’t get our stimulus check yet. I was going do something wild and crazy with it, like help paying off the roof. We had to put a new roof on, and we did that 12 months same as cash, so now we’re trying to pay it off.

Tax Day

Hi, I’m Karen, and this is my frugal diary. I’m a SAHM with two special needs toddlers, and we’re trying to save money, so to encourage myself (and maybe others), I’m writing how I’m saving money day by day. I should notice that I’m a former debt counselor and stockbroker, so money management has been something that I’ve been concerned with for a looong time.

Tax Day didn’t mean too much to me since I had my tax person do my taxes (we thought about getting the software but since we bought a house last year, we had a professional did it.

But we did get 15 free prints at Walgreen for tax day, and later on I went to a free blogging class at the library.
