Quick grocery bargains

Nothing much here, but I am really pleased that I stuck to my all-cash diet. I stopped at Kroger to get juice for my son because it was his day to bring juice to the classroom…and it was only $1 for a half-gallon (I already ahd the snacks he was also supposed to bring at home). Since milk is only $1.99 per gallon, the reduced milk was only .99!!! I bought two gallons–one for my mom and one for me.

On the way back from my daughter’s speech therapy, I stopped at Hollywood Market. I usually don’t shop there because it doesn’t have the greatest prices, and I’m only in the area once a week.

But this week, eggs were .88 per dozen and bananas .40/lb. so I stopped shopped and rolled out.

Value World

Boy did I have fun using my Value World coupon for half-off my purchase. My total came to $32.66. I bought my husband the several sweaters he had asked me for. I also bought my children shoes, as well some really cool Ralph Lauren Polo quilted boots for myself.

I also got a Dapper Dan for my daughter, and boy did that bring back memories, as well as a Cabbage Patch doll that was really cute and sort of looks like my little girl.

I bought the kids a few more toys, as well as a Sesame Street videotape (still lovin’ my VCR) and a DVD of Wagons East. the last film of the late, great John Candy. I also bought a large blanket, and a Panasonic cordless phone/clock radio set. It looks cooler than it sounds.

I think my favorite purchase was a Sunflowers by Elizabeth Arden perfume/body wash/lotion set. I had been kind of hankering for one of those sets for Valentine’s day, but they were too expensive. I bought a set of fragarance, body wash and lotion at Dollar Tree, but I’d been wanting a name brand. And there it was for $4.30.

My satisfaction was complete.

Kroger and Sam’s Club

Today, I went to Kroger. I bought yogurt on clearance, which was a good deal, an eight pack for $1.19, as well as a can of Progresso for.69. When I came home, I found a free one-day Sam’s Club membership.

I’ve never been to Sam’s Club? Does anybody have any good ideas?

Cheap Cereal

This last week has been my weak for cereal–cheap cereal. It began last Sunday. CVS had a price killer of cereal for $1.88, which is great, especially since I had coupons for .75 a box, making it a $1.13 a box, for my favorite Special K,

Later in the week, I stopped at Kroger Clearance. Lo and behold, boxes of cereal were marked 75% off, which means that it was a dollar a box, and it was Special K blueberry. I bought all they had.

Today, I received the new Kroger ad, and it’s a sweetheart. Milk is a $1.99 a gallon, orange juice .99 a 1/2 gallon…and boxes of instant oatmeal .99 a box.
