I must confess that I am a snob. Actually, I am the daughter of a snob. My father would say, “That man is wearing cheap shoes,” as he walked away in his thrift store Bally shoes. What my father meant was that the other fellow was wearing Payless or Kmart or some other forbidden thing. No, we had the good stuff, even if we were a little unconventional about getting it.
I hit the Salvation Army to the $77 sound of damage. Part of my loot was.
10 Arrow Shirts for my husband. According to the web, the retail price: $36 a piece. (I got them for a dollar each). The Salvation Army has daily deals Friday, all men’s button down shirts were 75% off, which meant, practically speaking, they were now a dollar each. Hubby needed shirts, and I needed to get my shopping on, so it was a good combination.
1 Bebe cocktail dress worth $130. I got this for a dollar. This was part of their five for five deal, meaning that if you buy five items of clothing that all have the half-off color tag, the clothes become a dollar each. For example, this dress was originally $7.99, so often if I am one or two pieces of clothing short, I’ll buy anything with the sale color tag on it, even if I don’t like it, because in the long-run, I’m saving money.
1 pair of Walter Steigel shoes for $8.99. Worth $1200. This pair of shoes was made in Italy (said that on the sole), which is generally where the best shoes are made, so I knew it was expensive. Of course, I didn’t know quite how expensive it was until I googled it.
1 pair of Ferragamo shoes for $7.99 Worth $350. Ditto for Ferragamo as for the previous pair of shoes.
1 DKNY man’s shirt for a dollar. Worth $150. I knew this was a big brand, but again until I googled it, I did’t how much.
Other nice clothing, shoes and books.
The next day I went to Stevenson High School rummage sale and scored a Coach purse for $2. I went home and googled it. It was called a Court Bag, and its original price was $258.
